On Friday we took a look at a website called SUMDOG, that allows the kids to work on their basic math skills.
Each student gets their own Avatar's and they can dress and change their appearances and clothing. The more correct answers they give, the more points they get to go shopping in the store.
The great think about this website is that it adjusts to each students ability level. From my end I can post challenges and competitions for our class to compete in, as well as monitor students progress.
For those that have Internet at home - this can be used anytime. All the students need is their log in and password information - which we glued into our planner front page on Friday.
I have used this before with our classrooms - and the kids have loved it and also improved their math skills.
We will be using it off and on as a math center in class, or when we finish our work early.
I encourage students to use it at home as well!
The kids can play against other kids from our class, if they are online - or can play against other kids worldwide!!
One competition is all ready set up for our class.... and closes on October 15th. The top three students will get a prize !!
Happy Sumdoging :)
